The Great Bear’s Celestial walks

Astronomy evenings accompanied by a cultural mediator and amateur astronomer, keen to pass on the pleasure of contemplating the starry sky, a cultural and natural heritage of humanity to be discovered or rediscovered.

Description

Enter the legend of the constellations! Les Balades célestes is a guided tour using a laser pointer to observe the sky with the naked eye, punctuated by tales of Greek and other constellation legends. You'll learn to find your way around the sky thanks to the stars and constellations, and experience a moment of contemplation and immersion in the nocturnal environment with your eyes turned towards the starry vault.

Depending on which stars are present for a closer look, the evening concludes with a telescope and/or binoculars observation and a discussion with the public. Some outings are specifically devoted to moon observation, depending on the astronomical calendar.

Observation sites are located in Berrias, Casteljau, Banne and Montselgues. They are in beautiful, unobstructed surroundings, easy to reach and far enough away from light pollution. The exact meeting point is specified at the time of booking.

Stargazing requires clear skies, so the evening is confirmed on the day by text message, and can be rescheduled for the following day or another date if the sky is too overcast or even veiled. Evenings can also be organized on days other than those initially scheduled, please contact the organizer for details.

Times vary according to the time of nightfall and the stars to be observed.

Bring warm clothing and closed shoes whatever the season. A 15-minute walk on an easy road or path. Participants may bring light folding chairs, binoculars, and a personal light with a red lamp is recommended but not compulsory. Throws and blankets provided.
