The Col de Meyrand, on the Tanargue massif, rises to 1371m. It links the Beaume and Borne valleys and is the gateway to the Ardèche mountains. It offers a wide panoramic view of the Beaume valley and has an orientation table.
Description
To reach the Col de Meyrand from Joyeuse, take the D203 and then the D24 towards Valgorge. After the village of Valgorge, follow the signs for Loubaresse. When you reach Loubaresse, follow signs for St Eienne de Lugdares, and the pass is 2.5 km further on.
From Les Vans, follow the D10 towards Chambonas. After "le Pont" continue on the D10 to Peyre. At Peyre, turn left onto the D4 towards St Laurent. Then turn right onto the D403 towards Loubaresse. In Loubaresse, follow the D24 towards St Eienne de Lugdares. The pass is 2.5 km further on.
There, you can follow the GR de Pays Tour du Tanargue (map IGN 2838 OT Largentière/ La bastide-puylaurent ), discover the church with its fortified tower at Loubaresse, take a break at the village bistro, admire the paragliders taking off from the pass or decipher your surroundings at the orientation table below.
The Col de Meyrand, a must-see site in the Cévennes d'Ardèche region, offers you an exceptional moment with your head in the clouds.
New: A new belvedere in the Massif du Tanargue, made from local chestnut wood, offers exceptional panoramic views of the Monts d'Ardèche, the Cévennes and as far as Mont Ventoux in the Vaucluse department.
