A remarkable wetland, the peat bog is a rare natural habitat on a European scale, home to a protected fauna and flora. An educational discovery trail and illustrated booklet provide a better understanding of this fragile environment.
Description
The three peat bogs on the Montselgues plateau are very similar. Two of them, close to each other, are known as the Narcettes peat bog. The third is known as the Granges de la Rouveyrette peat bog.
The high altitude of the plateau, over 1000 m, and the presence of nutrient-poor springs have given rise to a peaty wetland flora within a mountain moor.
Guided tours are offered during the summer by the La Fage association.
